Girl Puberty Stages

Puberty in a girl begins from when the girl reaches 11 or 12 years of age. This can be a difficult period of a girl and that is why parents should be open about all the changes that her body will undergo. Also, parents should try to help the girl out with the emotional changes she will experience.

A girl has to be told that there is nothing to feel embarrassed about. Puberty is a natural process of development and all girls go through it before reaching adulthood. Once the girl understands that the various stages of puberty are normal, she will be better equipped to handles the changes that her body and mind go through. If you make the girl feel embarrassed about the stages of puberty, then she will not be willing to discuss her concerns with you. However, if you talk about the hair growth, mood swings, body odor and also the start of menstruation, then she will be able to deal with stages of puberty more confidently and also her relationship with you will improve.

In the first stage of puberty, hormonal changes occur. It is due to these hormones, that physical changes start occurring in a girl. The hormones that start getting secreted by the various glands include gonadotropin, luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone. These hormones are the ones that begin the menstruation and secondary sexual characteristics in a girl. In addition, they are the ones that cause the mood swings.

The physical changes that occur include growth of hair in the armpits and the genital region. Also, the amount of perspiration and sebum production increases. The perspiration has an odor, while the sebum production can lead to acne and pimples. Besides these changes, also breasts start developing. First the areolas get engorged and then breast tissue starts developing. This is the time a girl gets self conscious, and you can tackle the breast growth by making a girl wear a lightweight bra. Make sure that girl eats healthily as her hips and waist will begin to fill out and get a curvaceous look.

Finally, in the last stage of puberty, menstruation begins. Make sure that you talk to your daughter about all the issues relevant to menstruation so that she is aware of what is normal and what is not. This way she will feel more confident about approaching you if she feels that anything is amiss.
