Sex Education And Abortions

Sex education is being taught in many schools across the US. Through sex education, impressionable teenagers get correct information about sex, relationships and intimacy. It also helps teenagers to know their sexual identity. Sex education helps teenagers to make correct decisions about their sexual behavior and have no regrets about the choices they make.

In addition, sex education imparts knowledge about various sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS, and teaches kids how to prevent these by using condoms. Many people have realized that whether kids are taught about sex or not, chances are very high that they will indulge into sexual activity. Therefore, sex education also teaches teenagers to practice safe sex to avoid unwanted teenage pregnancies.

The main aim of sex education is to ensure that no teenager takes a step and ends with a negative outcome, like teenage pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases. Of late, there has been a lot of talk about sex education and abortion. There are varying opinions on this. Some people feel that sex education encourages use of contraceptives due to which abortion rates are reducing, while others claim that no studies have proven this fact. As a matter of fact, many studies have shown that sex education has hardly any influence on the rate of teenage pregnancy and abortion.

In fact, studies have shown that having legal restrictions on abortion when it comes to teenagers can actually reduce the rate of abortion. For instance, in some states in the US, parents have to be notified if their teenage daughter comes for an abortion. This restriction has worked quite well in these states by reducing teenage abortion rates without causing any increase in teenagers having kids.
