However, a television is a double edged sword. While it can help in sex education, it is also part of the problem in imparting wrong information to impressionable teenagers. As a matter of fact, many of the beliefs held by teenagers about sex are the ones that cause them and the society grief.
Most teenagers get their knowledge about sex from their friends and what they see on television. It is also possible today to surf the Internet and get access to sites that are sexually oriented. Parents are the last source of information on sex, and this is primarily because even today sex is treated as a taboo subjects by parents. They are uncomfortable to talk about sex with their kids. So, it is quite possible that the information a teenager has about sex is incorrect or half truth.
While the media helps to further the wrong perception that teenagers have about sex, it can be used positively to impart sex education with a little bit of care. Both television and radio are good media for imparting sex education to teenagers, as they can be used to start a discussion on topics that are considered to be taboo in today's society.
