Binge drinking is another way of getting intoxicated. It is usually defined as getting heavily intoxicated in a very short period of time while forgetting all responsibilities. Some how getting intoxicated has emerged as a trend. And, binge drinking is one way of getting intoxicated.

Just as alcohol consists of unhealthy and devastating ability, binge drinking is no different. In fact, binge drinking is said to be more lethal compared to any other type of substance abuse.

Consuming larger amounts of drinks in short period of time can cause damage to the brain. This has been scientifically proven. According to research, binge drinking during teenage life can result in memory loss in later adulthood. Binge drinking brings one of the most dreadful consequences that is alcohol poisoning. When somebody consumes excessive amount of alcohol in a short period of time, he can get alcohol poisoning where it can affect the involuntary reflexes of the body, including gag reflex. Failure in gag reflex can result in choking or even death when the person vomits. Other symptoms of alcohol poisoning include pale skin, low body temperature, vomiting, seizures and extreme confusion. It can also result in irregular breathing. When a person is suffering from alcohol poisoning, it is hard for them to stay awake for long or normal hours. People who also tend to binge drink take unnecessary risks which could have fatal consequences.
 

A binge drinker suffers from high blood pressure, and young people who are into this habit are more likely to gain weight later in adulthood.

Developing a mentality that binge drinking is not alcoholism is wrong. Binge drinking can lead to alcoholism and can devastate lives. In fact, binge drinking can have very severe consequences.
