Maintaining a family and the bonds within a family are very important. In fact, this is a delicate and time consuming job that requires every family member to contribute. Small things add up and make a big difference. And, a single slip up can end up destroying what other family members have worked so hard for. Some times seeking out something new results in destroying what you already have. This is invariably the case with drugs.

Many times teenagers start using drugs to seek something new in their life. Drugs over the years have evolved as a trend among teenagers, who opt for them due to either peer pressure or bad judgment.

Drug addiction can affect family members dearly. The person will resort to anything to get his daily fix and this could mean stealing or verbally abusing family members when they do not give him money to support his addiction. At times, the drug addict can also become violent, lashing out at family members because he sees them as obstacles in his path.

Drug addiction can cause a lot of pain in a family. It can lead to broken marriages and relationships. Family members tend to distance themselves from a drug addict and this causes undue pressure on all involved. They can even face ostracism in the society.

In order words, one can say that drug addiction can break the very structure and bond in a family.
