There are a number of advantages that high school education has to offer and hence, must be taken seriously. These benefits remain through out the life.
High School prepares the student for the real world. Although, the materials used during high school may not be used through out the life, but the skills that are learned help through out life. It is in high school that the listening skills, writing skills and information gathering skills develop. It is in high school that the student grows emotionally and mentally. Skipping the high school makes you miss an important part of your life i.e. adolescence. By skipping high school you may feel grown up too early.
Also, when one has discontinued with high school, there are no chances that they may pursue a college degree. Instead attending high school helps you decide whether or not to pursue a college degree. It lets you with various options in graduation and the different career prospects.
The major part of life that benefits from the high school education is the future. Hence taking wrong decision may have a bad impact on future. Most jobs in the US require high school or more that a high school diploma. Hence, when you do not complete high school, you cannot expect a good job. Also, the biggest problem could be that you may not find a job at all. People who complete high school are less likely to remain unemployed.
There are many students who do not pursue their high school and hence, decide to go for GED. Some students successfully go through this, but some find it difficult. This is because they have quit studies and hence, it becomes difficult for them to start all over again. One of the other reasons for this is that most of them are busy with their full time job or reached adulthood and, hence, are busy with responsibilities like taking care of family, children etc. This makes it difficult to spend time in taking the test and complete it successfully.
GED is an alternative to those who could not complete high school. But it should not be compared to a diploma from high school. Most jobs do not consider GED candidates. Also, several colleges and employers consider GED inferior to a high school diploma.
Surviving through the high school may be difficult but not impossible. A little bit of patience and adjustment from your side may gift you with a good career. This in turn shapes your future in a better way.
