Preschool Bible Lessons And Activities

Religion occupies a significant space in the lives of most of us. Belief in God can aid in strengthening our morals, can enhance our will power and shape us into better human beings. The concept of Sunday School provides an opportunity for young children to commence their relationship with the Almighty.

Through the medium of simple and interesting activities, children imbibe the knowledge of God, Jesus Christ and the Bible. However, owing to the tender age of the learners, facilitators must design activities coherent with their mental capabilities. Story telling has been a remarkable age old tool to impart learning and inculcate values within children. The facilitator can make the children sit in a circle and read out a story from the Bible such as those related to Noah's Ark and God making the animals. Once the story is over, reinforce the details by asking simple questions about the characters and storyline. The teacher must incorporate the most vital question about what each child deciphered about God from the story.

A number of visual aids can be utilized to create a stronger and lasting impact on the psyche of the children, and to make the story come alive. The teacher can prepare flash cards, each one depicting a scene from the story. For instance, one card could portray Noah and his Ark, while another one could have animals depicted on it. The teacher may ask the children to put the flash cards in a sequence, which would require them to remember the story well. Involving art in the lesson plans can also generate further interest in the concept as drawing and coloring are favorite activities of preschoolers.

After the completion of each story, the children can be asked to draw a picture representing the story such as they may draw an ark for Noah’s story. Those who are unable to draw can be involved in coloring pictures of the story. All the artwork created by each child can be assembled together in a file and presented to them as a Bible of their own.
