Preschool Room Arrangement

A preschool symbolizes the first place that a child walks into away from the comforts of home. For this very reason, the preschool room needs to be arranged with care so as to promote the spirit of learning in these beginners and also to make them feel comfortable with the environment.

One of the most vital aspects with regard to preschool room arrangement is to have a child sized classroom. This means that everything in the room such as tables, chairs and shelves should be at the level of the child. This helps the child in administering things independently and gaining confidence. There should be a specific place of storage for every article in the room. The facilitator must label the storage containers with the relevant visual and word. This will help in training the children to use material on their own and put it back after use. Moreover, this aids in maintaining neatness in the room.

Since the children are very young, it is essential to mark a place for solitary time. Arranging for this includes placing a few pillows and cushion in the so-called quiet area of the classroom.

Preschoolers may require taking a break between activities as they are not use to continuous physical activity or social interactions. There should be an arrangement within the room for displaying the work of the children. Seeing their own work and that of others enhances the self esteem of children and motivates them to improvise further. Last but not the least, all objects should be placed in a manner that is safe for children.

Arrangements in the room should be such that no child trips or hurts oneself due to the placement of things.
