Thanksgiving Preschool Crafts
The festive mood generated during Thanksgiving is the perfect time to involve children in creative work. Preschool children can be involved in a number of craft activities to celebrate Thanksgiving. |
Let the children trace leaf templates provided by the school on colored construction paper. Help children to cut out the traced leaves. Now, assist them in penning down a thankful thought on a leaf. These leaves can be stapled with ribbons and the leaves garland prepared thereby can be displayed in the room for parents.
Making a balloon turkey is another enjoyable craft activity. Large feathers can be drawn and cut from colored construction paper. These feathers are to be now stuck on the blown balloon in a fanned manner. The head of the turkey, cut from a brown paper can be decorated and taped in front of the balloon. Your balloon turkey is ready. Do not forget to tie a ribbon to this turkey, lest it flies away!
A hands wreath can also be prepared by the preschoolers. Trace the hands of the children on colored construction paper using fall colors to promote the spirit of Thanksgiving. A poster board circle can be provided to each child to serve as the base of the wreath. The cutouts of the traced hands have to be pasted all around the poster board. The wreath can be further decorated with pressed leaves, acorns and candy corn. A turkey napkin holder for the dinner table from these preschoolers would be loved by their parents. To prepare this craft, an empty toilet roll is required. A small V-shape is cut towards the top part of the roll and flipped up to make the beak. The beak can be covered with yellow construction paper along with a red wattle shape cut out. Now the children can paste the googley eyes.
Finally, cut outs of hands of children traced on colored construction paper can be used for making the feathers. These are to be fanned out and glued on the back of the roll. Once the napkin holder is dry, a napkin can be placed through the roll.
