Example-Of-Statement-Of-Personal-Ethics      Examples of personal ethics should not be hard to come across in daily life. If they are, then you need to change the company you have been keeping! Or you need to take a long, hard look at your own set of ethics, and alter them as soon as possible, since these are essentially what give you your identity in society. More..

Different Kinds Of Ethics

Ethics are those socially acceptable moral codes that we need to live by to be considered a good human being, be it within our families, at our workplaces, or in society at large. Following the ethics code can sometimes feel like the easiest thing to do on earth, while at times it forces us to make the most difficult decisions of our entire lifetime.

Sometimes sticking to our personal moral code gives us a deeply satisfied feeling about our lives and our general conduct towards one and all, while at times it can torment us throughout our existence. At times we are governed by the existential rule that doing what we feel like doing is what helps us live well, while at times we are made to believe that living by a set of rules is what it takes to make everything work.

Following are the four main ways to think about morality, and a look at how those inter-dependent theories can lead to fundamentally different ethical situations.

First, there are ethics that help build a person’s character through virtue, like Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics.

Next come ethics based on a person’s constantly evolving personal emotions and not on any reasoning, like David Hume's non-cognitive ethics.

Then comes ethics based on applying the universe’s sacrosanct rules, the ones which should never be tampers with like Immanuel Kant's deontology.

Finally, there are those ethics which are based on the individual, society, the present and future consequences of one’s actions, like Jeremy Bentham’s utilitarianism.
