Disadvantages Of Single Parenting
Single parenting is a huge responsibility on one single individual to solely handle the finances, parenting responsibility, health care and security as well as huge decisions in the household. Though it may gratifying to bring up your kid completely by your choice and control, single parenting comes with its own set of risks and disadvantages. |
One of the main factors that can burden single parents, especially with an unstable profession is the family economics. As opposed to a family with two incomes, the responsibility of bringing in the required finances to run the household falls completely on one individual. This means, if the single parent faces any issues where there is a problem in the earning or finances, the entire household suffers. Moreover, with tight financial circumstances, parents may frustrate the child by not providing more than the minimum needs.
Loneliness and insecurity of the parent is very high in a single parent family. This is because, the decision making pressure is not shared by individuals. Right from nurturing the child, taking care of education building a talent, providing basic needs, the entire life of the parent revolves completely around the child.
The child growing with a single parent is at a loss of enjoying the love and care of the spouse. Especially, if the child is aware of the reason for the loss (be it abandonment, divorce or death), the mental state of the child is highly affected. They may become highly reserved and withdrawn or turn rebellious and aggressive.
