Rules Of Good Parenting

Parenting is an art and an exciting responsibility more than an obligation. There are no set rules to be a good parent. All the counseling about parenting is just a direction and some of the ideas may in fact be very conflicting.

Children look upon their parents as role models. They reflect a lot upon the environment in which they live. Hence, if you expect your child to respect you and others in the society, you should display the same for them to understand what you mean.

Expressing love and gratification is very important. However, it is not right for you to pamper your child and make him too dependant on you. There is a difference between loving your child and showing leniency, overlooking mistakes and not setting the right expectations.

Set simple rules when your child is young. It becomes a habit for him to follow it later.
Your child should grow to be responsible for himself and his environment, and not have any problem in sharing and interacting with others.

Trust your child and do not suspect his capabilities and competencies. The actual interests and talents of your child may differ from what you expect. Allow them to explore their interests on their own.

Parenting involves a lot of time as well as hard work. It is important to spend exclusive time with your children. This gives you to monitor your child’s mentality, growth and personality. Show that he or she is important to you and right behaviors and good deeds makes you a proud parent.
