How To Increase Self Esteem In Teenagers ?
Adolescence is considered to be the most complicated phase of child's life and his or her parents. An adolescent does not realize why he or she is behaving in a certain way as they do not have the maturity at that age to think so deeply and reflect. However, their parents can see it through. Nonetheless, parents need to be supportive during this stage of development and play a directional role in their lives. |
Adolescents are not very good with advice and they will reject it at the first chance. The best way to teach them values is by showing them alternatives and living the example. An adolescent often makes mistakes because they are not confident about themselves and their abilities, and that is why they give in to peer pressure.
If you want to help your teenage daughter or son through their adolescence, then boost their confidence. Teenagers have various worries about their body, skin, looks and even small acne can send them into bouts of depression and low morale. Kids need a lot of reassurance at this age. Teach them how to self assure and then they will develop confidence. Assure them that they look good and you accept them just the way they are.
If you know your child is dealing with peer pressure and related issues, then stop criticizing them for the other things. Have patience as a parent and help them deal with peer pressure. Encourage them to make newer friends by enrolling them into various activities.
