You can recognize a person with low self esteem even in a large group of people. They act differently. It is easy to tell them apart because in all probability they will be standing aloof or not participating in group activities. The way they walk is also funny. They will have a hunch or stoop low and will walk with their head down. They will never make eye contact with a person they are talking to. They will answer in mono syllables if someone asks them a question. They may come across as shy but the real reason is low self esteem. They do not talk because they are scared that they will be made fun of. They may be a storehouse of information but they still will not talk.
People with self esteem will not approach very directly but they will stand at a distance and expect the other person to come and talk with them. Also, they are reserved and would rather be left alone instead of indulging in social conversations. They become antisocial and want to meet no one. They do not smile. It is a normal reaction to smile when you meet people but people who have a low self esteem cannot smile as they are always feeling low and dejected.
Low self esteem is a very damaging thing for persons self worth and confidence. It downsizes them in the eyes of the society.
