Life is an uncertain place and the more people accept it the better it is for them. Life cannot be controlled by us alone and there are several external factors controlling it like society, environment and economy. Sometimes things are out of our hands and we have to accept them as they are. |
The recent recession in the United States has left several people jobless and unemployed. It has brought in financial disasters in several families and degraded their lifestyle. While some people who are confident have sailed through it and managed to find other jobs and moved on their lives. People who have not managed to find a job after trying for it repeatedly have lost faith and have become under confident. Staying jobless for a couple of years is a big blow to people’s self esteem simply because they are not able to make use of themselves. They feel depressed and they are not for good for anything.
Job plays a very important role in persons self esteem. A person may not get as much appreciation in his own family but gets it from his work place. People look up to the person as a boss or a coworker. Every person derives a lot of confidence from other behavior towards them. A person who has lost their job can feel like they have nothing left to look forward for in their life. They are not good enough anymore so nobody is going to employ them. Nearly 75 percent of the self esteem a person has comes from the job they do and the job satisfaction they get.
