What Are Communication Skills ?

Communication skills are those skills that let people interact with each other without any hesitation or fear. Mainly, there are three kinds of communication skills -- expressive, listening and there are skills to manage the whole process in communication. The essential among all these kinds of communication are the emotional skills.

Expressive skills refer to the ones that are used to express messages to people with the use of words, expressions of the face and through body language. Listening skills come into play to take in information or messages from people. This process of communication helps in knowing a person, his thought process and his feelings about you. The skills to manage the whole process in communication are helpful in recognizing the needed information and in developing the strength on the already established rules in interaction and communication.

The importance of having communication skills cannot be ignored. They are the key to execute good skills in management. Having extraordinary management skills can give you a good team who would collectively pave way for having open communication, “to the point” messages, clarifying queries, identify nonverbal signals and have mutual understanding between them. Good communication requires a batch of intricate skills.

In the modern world that we live in today, having extra-ordinary communication skills helps in winning amidst the cut-throat competition in all the aspects of life. In order to communicate effectively, a sender has to transmit his message clearly and in an organized manner so as to keep the receiver’s interest in you and your services or your advantage over other competitors. Receivers would be interested in you or your services only if you are confident about yourself and your services and you are warm enough to them.
