What Poisons Are In Cigarettes ?
There are many different types of chemicals in cigarettes, and many of them are toxic and poisonous to the human body. However, people who smoke are mostly oblivious to this fact. For them, smoking is a form of entertainment, relaxant and/or addiction. They rather smoke than understand and realize the ill-effects of smoking. |
It is believed that a single cigarette contains enough toxic chemicals to kill a rat. Imagine if you smoke dozens of those cigarettes, how many toxic chemicals you are inhaling into your body? A cigarette contains harmful chemical compounds like tar, DDT, methane, ammonia, butane, nickel, cadmium, benzene, polonium, heroin, acetone and arsenic. Each of these chemicals is sufficient to kill a person by itself.
When a person smokes, all these harmful chemicals stay behind in the body as residue collecting over many years to harmful levels. That is why the ill-effects of cigarette smoking are not seen immediately. They take some time to manifest themselves. Many of these chemical compounds are carcinogenic in nature and lead to different types of cancers, especially lung cancer and oral cancer.
Cigarette smoking kills millions of people worldwide. These deaths occur due to all the chemicals in the cigarettes that are instrumental in triggering different types of diseases like cancer, arthrosclerosis, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. No smoker is immune to the harmful effects of smoking. Even a person who inhales second hand cigarette smoke is at great risk of developing cancer.
So, before you light up your next cigarette, take some time to think about all the poisons you will be introducing into your body.
